Exploring different podcasts can be fun and time consuming. But, once found they arrive as regularly as the Monday morning workweek. I found a couple that I could enjoy and look forward to arriving.
The Teacher’s Podcast.
All Things Considered, on NPR (Which just had a fabulous segment on E.B.White and Charlotte’s Web. Did you know that it took E.B.White seventeen takes to record the audio portion of Charlotte’s death? He could not get through the reading without breaking down in tears.
The Writer’s Almanac with Garrison Keillor. Enough said- this rocks on the radio and most of the time I miss it, so now I won’t!
I am also investigating iTunes U- a ton of colleges have gotten together to provide webcasts and podcasts on a ton of subjects. You subscribe just like the podcasts at iTunes, not all are podcasts but many are. Many of the lectures are from major universities. Looks like a fun site to explore.
Hey I gotta go- “So You Think You Can Dance” is on!!!!!!
Bookishly yours,
Elle

Realio Trulio, I haven’t forgotten my goal to complete the ATN things! But, am a whole week behind….but for a realio trulio good reason- my mumsie was visiting from out of state. It was such great fun, too! Now, just as Custard the Dragon was victorious in the end…….so shall I!!!!
I love the whole idea of podcasting- info coming to me, only the new stuff coming, getting the information hands free, perhaps while I am undertaking some other task that must be done- it is a multi-taskers dream, I suppose! I have an ipod but I haven’t been using it- this has motivated me to brush the dust off and put it to work. One podcast that I checked out was “The Teacher’s Podcast” at http://teacherspodcast.org/. Pretty interesting but the reason I mention it here is they are having a podcasting contest! Due by August 15, the details are on the top bar of the website- under contests. Although it is primarily for teachers, I know there are lots of SLMer’s out there and seems like a fun way to practice some podcasting. Wouldn’t that be something if one of us newbie’s won….
One way I think creating a podcast would work at our library: Podcasting how to access databases and which databases are useful in which situations. Or, adding a podcast of our weekly storytimes to put on our website- that would be fun!
I know there must be a way to add a link to a word- so it goes directly to the site, but I can’t seem to find it and my google search for the answer lead me nowhere- help! (Like I could say…..the contest is here and clicking would go here:
